Tottenham are interested in signing Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly.

Reinforcing the defence and adding some much-needed depth will be a top priority for Ange Postecoglou heading into the upcoming transfer window. The North London club have been on the lookout for bargain options to strengthen their backline and according to a report by Fichajes, they are interested in signing Lloyd Kelly.

The 25-year-old English centre-back came up the ranks at Bristol City before joining Bournemouth in the summer of 2019. Kelly has been ever-present in their defence in the past few seasons. While he prefers playing in the heart of the defence, the Cherries have also used him as a left-back when needed.

The former Bristol defender might have struggled with injuries in the ongoing season but he has put in impressive performances when fit. His versatility and consistent performances have put him on the radar of Spurs who are looking for a bargain option to reinforce their defence.

Kelly’s contract with the Cherries runs out in the summer and he is unlikely to pen down a new deal. The 25-year-old is expected to be on the move as a free agent and Tottenham are the ones pushing for his signature.

Postecoglou has already signed two quality centre-backs in the last two windows but he still wants to add more depth. The Australian boss feels they need more options at the back to compete with the top clubs and Kelly’s potential arrival for free could be a huge boost for them.
